We are hosting a mural competition within the school to celebrate the official opening our Tearmainn classrooms, room 16 and 17. These classrooms are located on the pastoral corridor and will be known as the ‘Tearmainn’ area of the school.
We will be installing a mural on this corridor which we envisage will communicate and represent the atmosphere of the area. ‘Tearmainn’ is a Gaelic translation of the word ‘sanctuary’ which is the concept for the mural. The special classrooms are a place for students to engage in their academics, to socialise, to use recreationally and to rest. It is an inclusive space and we hope for the mural to encapsulate these aspects of the student’s experience.
We are welcoming designs/ concepts from students/parents and the mural will be completed as a student led project. They will be guided and facilitated by their art teacher Ms O’Connor but students will play a leading part in designing and executing the final piece.
